IBPS Clerk is a Common Written Exam (CWE). It is conducted by the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) for recruitment to nationalized banks in India to fill vacancies for clerical level jobs. IBPS has released the Official Notification for IBPS Clerk 2020 Exam to recruit 1557+ vacancies of clerical posts in 11 public sector banks. Eligibility Criteria for IBPS Clerk:

Education Qualification:

A Degree (Graduation) in any discipline from a University recognized by the Govt. Of India or any equivalent qualification recognized as such by the Central Government. 

Computer Literacy: Knowledge of computer operation is a must as the IBPS Clerk exam is conducted online.

Language Proficiency: Proficiency in the Official Language of the State/UT (candidates should know how to read/ write and speak the Official Language of the State/UT) for which vacancies a candidate wishes to apply is preferable. 

Age Limit:

Minimum Age: 20 Years

Maximum Age: 28 Years

 A candidate must have been born not earlier than 02.09.1992 and no later than 01.09.2000 (both dates inclusive)

IBPS Clerk 2020 Exam Pattern for Prelims - 

The IBPS Prelims Exam is of 100 marks of 1-hour duration with 20 minutes for each section.

  • The Prelims Stage of IBPS Clerk will have three sections of a total duration of 1 Hour.
  • There will be a total of 100 Multiple Choice Questions.
  • Candidates will have to qualify in each of the three tests by securing minimum cut-off marks to be decided by IBPS.
  • An adequate number of candidates in each category as decided by IBPS depending upon requirements will be shortlisted for Online Main Examination.

IBPS Clerk 2020 Exam Pattern For Mains:

The IBPS Clerk Mains Exam has 190 questions that need to be completed in a time frame of 160 minutes.

  • The IBPS Clerk Mains Exam will have a total of 190 questions with a duration of 160 Minutes.
  • There will be four sections in the IBPS Clerk Exam for Mains with different sectional timings.
  • Earlier, the Computer Aptitude and Reasoning Ability Section used to be conducted separately. But, as per the recent update by IBPS, both these sections have been amalgamated together constituting a total of 50 Marks.

Marking Scheme: 

  • There will be a penalty for wrong answers marked in the Objective Tests. 
  • For each question for which a wrong answer has been given by the candidate one fourth or 0.25 of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted as penalty to arrive at the corrected score.
  • If a question is left blank, i.e. no answer is marked by the candidate, there will be no penalty for that question.

IBPS Clerk Allowances:

In addition to the Basic Pay, IBPS Clerks are entitled to other allowances which are calculated based on the location of posting and other factors. Adding all these allowances/components with the Basic Pay will give you the total IBPS Clerk Salary.

The different allowances are tabulated below:

The Basic Pay Scale of IBPS Clerk is Rs 13075 – Rs 42,020. Here Rs 11,765 is the Basic pay. The main allowances that a Bank Clerk gets are the following:

  1. Dearness Allowance (DA): In Bank, DA is revised quarterly and is based on CPI as declared by the banks i.e. DA can go up with higher CPI and vice versa.

  2. House Rent Allowance (HRA): This varies according to the Clerk’s place of posting. And it can be 8.50%, 7.50%, and 6.50% depending on metros, big cities, and other locations.

  3. Medical Allowance: This allowance is paid annually. And for a clerk, it is fixed at Rs 2000.

  4. Transport Allowance (TA): It is also an additional amount of IBPS Clerk take-home salary.
